Appartente alla leva del ‘67, e quindi abbondantemente fuori dai limiti dell’arruolabilità, riuscì comunque ad essere presente sul fronte portando un importante sostegno morale alle truppe sfinite che combattevano sul Carso. Sul Monte Santo dove si combatteva vittoriosamente l’XI battaglia dell’ Isonzo, il Maestro organizzò una sorta di banda musicale con strumenti raffazzonati alla bene e meglio.
