Generally a hiking trail, but can be ridden. Lots of switchbacks, ledges, rocks, drops, and off-angle rock water diverters make this more of a “trials” trail than a DH trail. Best ridden as a descent. Climbing it will mean its a hiking trail. Bob Hope’s house and Steve McQueen’s house are easily recognizable for the entire descent.
