I don't recommend this mountain for mountain biking. It's not because of the altitude, but because of the terrain. The rocks are massive, making it impossible to ride in many sections. I ended up pushing my bike about 40% of the time, which ruined the enjoyment for me.

Rode CCW, would also recommend this. Lots of loose rock on the climb but not many switchbacks or big rocks step sections. Did find the Cholla tech climb more fun as a technical challenge, but this climb is worth it for the descent down the east end of the trail. Super rocky (big steps, rock gardens, rock rolls). Plenty of hikers to send it or botch it in front of.
