The MTB Loop is a 11.5km purpose built mountain bike loop on the north side of the Ashburton River. It is used as a race track by the local club and also hosts a 6 hour race annually.

Access Info

The best place to start the loop is at the Skills Park off Dobson Street West. There is signage to guide you along the one-way loop and tell you which section you are riding. You can also enter the track from the ends of Melrose Road, Chalmers Ave and Trevor's Road.

       This trail is great for the terrain they have. We had a blast coming from dunedin to christchurch for a breather. Stop at the skills park lots of fun things there. Also scope out some of the sneaky doubles, They are everywhere. The builders did very well with what they have.

       I second see ccrawford11; this track absolutely makes the most of what they've got. I don't think I have seen so many berms on a relatively flat track ever in my life! Would be the great ride for kids.
