Long and demanding downhill with everything from steep and technical to fast and flowy. Double black due to remoteness to access in case of emergency. A couple of the double black moves have easy ways that are the main route now.

I am glad I did it, just a really fun way to do a big day of riding, views are spectacular.

Big Ed was a huge disappointment. The description says long and demanding downhill, it is anything but. There is traversing and UPHILL in this downhill trail. There are two short sections of technical down that are barely black. The rest of the trail is a total joke. If you want proper black downhill then ride Boulder Mountain in Revelstoke. In short, the description for Big Ed is no where near reality.

Weighing in here, this is what the Sea-to-Sky set refer to as a “BC Black Diamond” which is definitely not a Blue or a Dark Blue. Think Rupert or Angry M in Squamish. If the gap and skinnies were mandatory would be a true Double Black.
