Charybdis is the bottom intermediate section and sister trail of the upper downhill-only trail, Scylla.
It joins the Leviathan and Scylla exit connector trail with the very bottom of the French Creek Valley junction area and the beginning of the Pheasant Glen French Creek climbing trails.
Charybdis is named after the whirlpool area of French Creek and is a sea monster of Greek mythology origin with its multi-headed sister Scylla.
Three times a day, Charybdis swallowed a huge amount of water, before belching it back out again, creating large whirlpools capable of dragging a ship underwater.
This trail is unsanctioned.
This trail tends to be obscured by fallen leaves and occasional flooding events and one section and trail-blocking tree is still under clean up and construction.
