Davis Meadow Details
Davis Meadow Trail is in the Fourmile Travel Management Area, located northeast of Buena Vista, CO. You
will especially like this trail if you like Aspen groves, and grand views of the Collegiate Peaks and Arkansas
River Valley. The trail climbs north winding up the hillside through fir and aspen forests to the green,
grassy meadow. There a few ups and downs through some creek valleys but nothing very difficult.
After crossing the north fork of Sevenmile Creek several historic cabins are located near the meadow, remnants of the
Swede's Camp. Local lore says that a group of Swedish loggers built the cabin and lived in them while cutting
timber for the Midland Railroad which traveled through the Fourmile area near Trout Creek Pass. After the meadow, the trail continues at an easy grade through aspen forest for about 1.5 miles to an overlook point where a new section of trail drops steeply down to CR 376A.
