The Glade trail follows the path of an old gondola that was built with traction cables and an old city bus that took people from Government Camp to Timberline Lodge. It's an easy to follow path through the woods that goes straight up the fall line and stays almost entirely below the trees. Avalanche danger is generally low and this can be combined with the Alpine trail to make a loop if desired. People use this route to get down to Government Camp from Timberline Lodge frequently. This does start in the middle of Government Camp, so be respectful of the residents who live near the lower trail head.
