Goat Camp can be ridden a couple different ways. Do not let the double black diamond scare you away. You can ride the first three miles of upper Goat Camp as an out and back from Mesquite Trail. This completes an epic out and back cross country climb when you start at the beginning Mesquite Trail. The other way to ride Goat Camp is to suffer through the climb on a big travel downhill bike until you get to the last three miles that drop down to South Trail. This is where the epic double black diamond shredder super chunk downhill begins. This downhill is only for the most dedicated masochist. Super technical with endless basketball sized rocks. Very remote too, if you get in trouble it is a long walk out. Be warned....keep the rubber side down and have fun!

A chunder fest best left to hikers. Lots of wheel swallowing holes and exposure. Best ridden as a downhill starting from Mesquite Canyon end.

Very fun trail if you're into chunk and technical. It is relentless bumps and gnar for a 1 mile section of downhill. It's very similar trail to upper Cheese Grater at PMP but a much longer version.

Came super close to clearing Mesquite Trail; first ride. Went 3 miles in on Goat Camp as the local trail map showed it being an option. Just kept going... not knowing that even with an S-Works Epic 29 I'd spend the next 1 1/2 hrs of HAB from dusk till dark and would find myself gated inside of the recreational area for an additional 35 minutes waiting for help. (: Just found Trail Forks on 11-30-18. Made this ride a year ago Frown . Turn around unless your looking for steep waterfall rock sections w/ intermittent 100' sections to pedal on.

Im sure this trail could be awesome with a LOT of work. I love tech and gnarly trails but this trail is just unnecessarily difficult. It is hard to ride in all the wrong ways. You will get moving (the rocks move with you btw) and then you need to stop and pick your bike over an unrideable boulder. I frequent trails like Holbert on SoMo, and I love a gnarly trail but in my opinion Goat Camp is a waste of time. I much prefer doing an out and back on Mesquite Canyon which is an excellent descent and much more rewarding.
