Loop A serves as both the gateway and gate keeper for Isle du Bois. It's fair to say this is a "no joke" trail system. Maybe you've heard things. Maybe you've read things. Maybe you're completely oblivious. You'll know soon enough where you are in life and if your three-pound dog is going to tolerate the trail in its basket--the rocks and roots are immediate. Lucky for you and your pooch, it's a short stint to the paved path. That short bit of trail is a micro sample of the rocks and roots to come--not to mention you've only traversed the left-hand side of a tiny-tiny loop. Cross the paved path onto Loop B, and you'll discover the rocks and roots make friends with climbs, sand pits, and poison oak. Probably time to stop clowning around. Leave the basket and pup at home. Helmet, hydration, and a trail-worthy bike are must-haves.
New to off road riding? It's worth noting that IDB is built utilizing the stacked loop system. You will ride one side of the loop on the way out, and hit the other side of the loop on the way back. Loops A and B are short, if that's all you ride. There's nothing wrong with testing the waters before jumping in. The IDB bonus feature is the trail crosses the paved path in a couple of spots. Jump onto the paved path when you've had enough.
