Jackhammer is the most technical trail in Sage Hills simply because it tends to go straight down at points and becomes rutted and narrow. This trail is mostly ridden downhill because climbing up the lower part would not be fun when there are other more climbing-friendly trails nearby. It's in a good location if you're in Sage Hills and are want a technical decent to Broadview, Maiden Lane or the Balsamroot Trail.

The top part of Jackhammer is a fun traverse and the trail is decent but then when it starts to drop down the ridge it turns from green circle to black diamond. If you're on a downhill bike or like some technical downhill then Jackhammer can be fun but the lower trail should really be rerouted to make it sustainable. Paths on the side of the main trail are starting to appear as the ruts get deeper.

From the top of the Gut/Mainline or the lowest part of Lightning (under the power lines), head 50 yards uphill to the wooden fence and turn right. Behind the fence is private property.
