Starts and ends beautifully, but the middle is extra chunky. Mostly flat, makes it difficult to negotiate. It is not long section, and you can ride it with a good amount of bike handling. But that rocky section pushes it into the realm of expert.

The beginning and end are great - but the middle part is mostly unrideable. It's not the rocks so much, but the tight turns around the giant rocks. A day or two of trail work with some minor reroutes would make this trail pretty fantastic.

Is this trail actually double black? mtbproject rates it a blue. How are the rating decided on trail forks?

It starts off really easy, but big rocks start to block your pedals and are embedded deep so that you can't really ride it. I ended up walking a bunch of it. That said, it was a long long time ago on a XC bike and is probably more like expert. Mostly because of that middle section. I changed it to expert. But in general the ratings are according to the local signage, and user input, you can rate it yourself on the page which can change the rating if others concur. When a trail is created there is an approval process through voting.

there is NFW this is a blue. What constitutes black or double black? Anyone who could clean this trail is way better than a double black rider. The trail isn't dangerous, it's just extremely difficult technically. It's at least a single black. It's also a totally different trail each direction.

I ride this 3-4x/year in the shoulder seasons, to avoid the ice, bugs, and heat. No shade out here in Summer, and the bugs would feast on you.
