Lantern Hill is the western terminus of the 16 mile Narragansett Trail which runs from North Stonington to the Rhode Island border. Lantern Hill is the best overlook in southern CT and provides great views especially in the fall. It is a 2.5 mile heavily trafficked section of the bigger trail located near Foxwoods casino with an amazing climb up a steep track to the summit of the exposed, rock faced hill. There are a couple of small paths that spur from the main track. The summit has incredible exposure to vertical rock cliffs on both east and west sides. A great spot for views, photos and a picnic. The climb is steep with high steps up rocks and roots. Best hiked from May until October. Bikes are permitted, but expect to carry them to the top if attempted.
Parking is available on the shoulder of the road - there is no dedicated parking lot.
