Left Hand Fork is a side canyon off of Settlement Canyon. The trail starts in gamble oaks. Then turns into a short fire road. Then crosses the creek and the road near Camp Wapiti. The trail follows the fire road up to the spring where the serious climbing starts. At the spring it turns back into single track and is heavily wooded. The trail climbs up through aspen up to Bear Trap Pass. At Bear trap pass you could turn around or you could switch to Ridge Trail, Bench trail or make the decent down the back side into the main part of settlement canyon. Trail is popular with horses and it is used for grazing cattle.

Access Info

The trail start just after the fork in the road. If you don't like paying tolls, park before the toll gate and ride the dirt roads to the trail head.

Rode this today. Currently a hot mess, with horse damage to the trail in the wet areas. Nothing some minor repair work couldn't fix. Bigger problem is the massive amount of downed trees, mostly above the dirt road, so pretty much the entire uppwr half of the trail. Needs a hard weekend of cleanup, and loks like it hasn't been done in a while. Was a miserable hike-a-bike over, under, and through trees. Trail itself is an unrelenting 11% all the way up. Alright if you're dying for a climb I guess.

Did a clean up ride last weekend and now the trail is completely rideable. Only a few trees towards the top that requires larger saw than we had... I only rode up and it really looked fun to turn around at any time and bomb back down. But we kept going up and at the end we chose to bomb down the double track down hill back to Settlement Canyon(actually a fast downhill). After that go southish and connect to the upper "Dark Trail" following the dark all the way down. Must ride for anyone in the area

Rode this trail today and it is a grueling climb all the way to the top. This was no surprise given the elevation but there was a lot of hiking on the way up. If you are in crazy good shape I am sure it is rideable. The trail is mostly clear with 3 sections that have downed trees you have to scramble over. If you make the climb do yourself a favor and ride it as an out and back do not take bench trail unless you your life. This trail looks like a blast to bomb back down. Next time I ride it that is how I will do it.
