Coming from the Newport side, the trail starts with a pretty technical downhill section (not beginner friendly). There are some man-made rock gardens with an optional easier dirt line. A couple small optional man made jumps as well. After the initial DH, it's all easy flowy fun single track within the trees except at a mandatory (for mere mortals) rock step-up to finish out the last section of singletrack. This trail is popular with the uphill hiking population, so be aware in the low visibility areas.

From the Newport side there's a small unmarked opening on Bommer Ridge.

Fun tech trail. If you are riding this alone watch out for the Lizards Climb near the bottom. It is a two foot rock wall that some people like to challenge themselves on. It would be really nice to have a bypass for most of us who can't do it.

Recent maintenance done to Bottom of the first section, before the trees has been largely shaped with dirt berms instead of rock garden/armoring. Mostly a blue flow trail now. However thank you to Trail builders for keeping it rideable.

Pretty good trail to warm up before hitting gnarlier trails on Laguna side.

The July / Aug changes made the top section more flowy, definitely more of of a blue than black

Trail just received alot of work on the top. Breaking bumps are pretty much gone along with alot of the rock gardens. Berms are built up also. It's faster now but easier as well. For sure runs like a blue trail now.

Very fun. I stopped at one feature only to realize I could have rolled it

This is one of the most fun MB rides I ever done. And it’s so beautiful.

There is a nice sign post at the top marking the trail. I usually warm-up on fenceline and it spits me out almost right there.

Great trail with lots of natural features. Well maintained so let’s keep it that way - Ride don’t slide!

Would NOT take a beginner down this trail, unless you want them to never ride with you (or maybe anyone else) again. Love this trail though and takes you to a series of other trails in the area.

I agree - it would be great to have a single track out of the park somewhere. Lizards was a blast - no beginner trail, but if you are comfortable with some drops and steep, it is a lot of fun.

Lizards is decent fun, BUT, all the work climbing from the parking area and NO singletrack back down, that is CRIMINAL.
