Loop Cold Spring - Power Line

Great ride on the loop, July 21, 2024! 2 of us on a day where the humidity finally broke in Gaspe! Cold Spring in excellent condition on the way up, very dry. Steep dry gravel in some spots, careful for traction. Even the bugs were not too bad. Once at the top and finding the passage over to the power lines, well, it was a little grown over in spots. Easy to follow, but long grass over some rutted out spots from last years rain to be careful of on a few downhiills. First river crossing almost dry, and last one, a bit of a cycle across with water above pedalling level. I think the beavers have been working in the area a bit! Great fun ride, nice breeze to keep the bugs at bay. Even ran into a guy working up there on the power lines, cutting brush back...both kind of surprised each other.

Rode the loop on July 12, 2021. Cold Spring road up is in great condition. A few sections are a bit loose, and steep, so it is a physical challenge but all rideable.

There is a bit of work going on up near the top with a machine moving dirt around in spots. Easy to get around, but a few soft spots for a bit.

On the way down, along the Power lines, lots of tall grass/twigs, etc, on parts of the trail. A couple of small streams to either bike or walk across ( I had water up to my knees...riding or walking, after a big rain the night before) Just a nice fun long ride down with a few small up sections along the way. A bit of loose rock on a few steeper sections near the top. Personally, I know I'd prefer going down this route rather than trying to ascend here....cleaner to come up Cold Spring road (but, that way is really fun to go down too - sometimes I'll just go up and down the same route on Cold Spring when I have less time.

Cold Spring road up is in good condition, as of June 2nd, all clear of snow, a few wet spots after rains, but really good.
