I love Sweetwater, and plenty of people would, likely everyone except the hard core gnar shredders.
Part of Sweetwater’s charm is that even though it’s a mixed use facility (bikers, hikers, horses), everyone gets along. The level of courtesy is the highest I’ve ever seen. It’s been that way for years.
This week, however, I encountered two bikers who were not being considerate, and I worry that behavior by riders like them might upset the balance.
One is a local who acts like he’s training for a race, and rides irresponsibly fast, even around corners. I’ve seen him multiple times. He’s affable, but he’s riding both dangerously and disrespectfully.
The other I saw yesterday, was riding around sunset with his border collie, obviously not on a leash. The facility rules require all dogs be on leashes. I said something to him, but he gave off the whole, “That doesn’t apply to me because I’m super cool,” vibe.
Again, the harmony at Sweetwater is amazing. I would sure hate to see a few selfish riders mess that up.
