This trail is a great descent down with Uncompahgre Plateau. It can be ridden as a shuttle or as a loop with a climb up Dave Wood Road from the Lower Spring Creek Parking lot.

The trail begins off Dave Wood Road just past a cattle guard at the entrance to the Uncompahgre National Forest. There is a small parking area at the cattle guard. On the right side of the road follow the doubletrack to the edge of Spring Canyon, then turn right at the T and continue on doubletrack. The doubletrack will turn sharply left and take you down a very steep and loose descent into Spring Canyon. Once in the Canyon turn right on singletrack and enjoy a magnificent 7 mile descent.

The descent is flowy in spots and rocky and technical in others. This is not a beginner trail, but solid intermediate riders will do fine.

After some short punchy climbs at the end you can turn right and climb steep switchbacks up the canyon wall back to the Lower Spring Creek trailhead, or turn left on the North Lower Spring Creek Connector to connect to Spring Canyon Road and the Buzzard Gulch parking lot.

Fast, rocky, loose, baby-heads, drops, twistys, dirty, Sandy, FUN. This is mountain biking in the high desert: Pinion pine forest down into the junipers.
