Access the top of the mountain-bike-accessible portion of the trail from South Waldo Lake trail. Note that the trail continues on into the Waldo Lake Wilderness to the northwest of this intersection, where bike traffic is not permitted.

Crosses USFS Rd 5897 near the bottom, where it dead-ends into Gold Lake trail.
