The downhill only section of Outer Limits branches off from the southeast corner of the Inner Core loop near the intersection of the Littmann Gateway and Hairpin ski trails. It can also be accessed from the east end of the Sure Wood trail using the well marked connector next to the start of Just Mite.
After crossing the creek on Gateway, Outer Limits begins its descent in earnest as Deadman's stream bed quickly deepens.
At the Keweenaw Fault, the trail dives into the gorge created by the falls and rips through a series of Hemlock shaded rollers along the steep hill side above the creek
