The "Schädelwäg" leads to large parts through very steep terrain, is blocked in parts and therefore requires good driving technique. There are always berms and jumps, but otherwise the trail is rather natural and also contains narrow, steep "off camber" turns - not suitable for blindly shooting away

The trail is the gratifying result of youth participation in the community and was implemented under the umbrella of Mountainbike Freiburg eV. The trail builders: A handful of young people, supported by Ansgar Wasmer, Tina Rehberg and family, who put the route out of their heads and into the terrain in many voluntary hours. Oli Gressler and Paco Haupt also helped out.

Incidentally, during construction, the helpers repeatedly came across animal bones and, to everyone's surprise, parts of a very old human skull. It was handed over to the police and fortunately did not prevent further construction work. This is how the trail got its name.
