This trail provides a single track alternative from the otherwise gravel access to provide a connector between the Qualicum Road Parking and the View Road, Crater Rim and the Qualicum Garbage Meadows Access Road trails.
Schnitzer incorporates an old and defunct short jump line from the meadow to the road bisecting the strip of forest. The trail name hails from the steel recycling firm due to the plentiful metal crap piles found along the way. Caution is advised when leading dogs through this trail to avoid injury of pets deviating from the trail.
The trail is very dry so a couple turns are very loose/soft. A frame log crossing needs more attention and second jump not yet constructed due to dry materials
