Drop from the South Downs Way to Mouse Lane. Top section is flinty singletrack, tends to be overgrown in summer. Once into the wooded section it becomes wider doubletrack. Bottom section is either narrow chalk steps or open field.

Surface is loam over packed chalk, with exposed packed chalk in places. Does not dry quickly as it is sheltered from sun and on the north side of the South Downs.

Packed chalk can be slippery when wet.
