This trail is still under construction, but the excavator has moved off of the site so you may as well ride it until the builders come back next spring.
In my opinion, descending Trail 8 (Upper) is the most fun trail in the Valley to ride and its sister trail, Trail 8 (Lower) comes in a close 2nd. It's a masterpiece and it's everything I ever wanted out of the Cedar Flats trail system.
That's going down it, however, getting up it so you can come down it is another story. Going up it features very steep switchbacks and lots of climbing until about the 1.5 mile mark where things start opening up and flattening out. The trail didn't get finished this season so you will find that the trail comes to an abrupt end at apx. the 2 mile mark. At this point simply turn around and enjoy the ride back down to Cedar Ridge Road. The climb was Hell, but this DH style trail is a blast to descend. Lots of bermed turns, rollers and a few rapid sequence s-curves.
Be sure to cross the road (Huckleberry Hill Road) and continue the fun by hopping on to Tail 8 (Lower) to keep the stoke going.
The best way to tackle this trail is to ride up the logging road, called Huckleberry Hill Rd., then take the connector trail to Trail 8 (Upper). This logging road is, admittedly, a boring slog, but it's better than pedaling up the trail itself due to its steepness and tight switchbacks..
