Also referred to the connecting trail Erickson Basin, this is actually the more difficult upper portion of Upper Setting Trails.
This trail is extremely difficult to climb and extremely fun to descend. We climbed from Smith and Morehouse trail. More than half of the climb involved some hike a bike up loose baby head strewn rugged trail. There were no down trees but very rugged over grown trail. Summiting to the Shingle Creek lake is very worth the trek. Refreshing and peaceful; the lake is very inviting. We turned downhill from there and it’s a rowdy, rocky, low-medium speed tech party all the way back to Ledgefork campground trailhead. Several creek crossings. The downhill is rated Extremely difficult because of the tech and lack of cell service. Your on your own out here. This trail is wild. Looking to escape the buff trails and crowds of park city? Took us 4.5 hours to climb up and 1 hour to descend.
Smith and Morehouse trail starts at Ledgefork campground. Follow signs for Erickson basin and shingle creek lake.
