The town of Golden is grabbing a lot of headlines for winter sports these days, but locals know that some of the best fun in town is to be found in the summer. Just one glance at all of the bad-ass bicycles cruising around town tells the tale. The biking is good here.
The Golden Cycling Club (GCC) is a dedicated corps of local riders who do all the dirty work of land use agreements, trail planning, building, and maintenance. If you are a local rider or a visiting rider, consider purchasing an annual GCC membership: http://goldencyclingclub.tidyhq.com/public/membership_levels. Alternatively, if you are just here for a day or two, you might consider a suggested daily user fee of $5 per rider per day: http://goldencyclingclub.com/donations/.
In addition to meeting all of your riding needs, local bike shops Derailed Sports, Selkirk Ski and Bike and Moon Cycle can provide you with free high-quality paper maps and trail information. You'll also find these maps at several other friendly local business.
Golden features camping facilities, Airbnb'ss and a variety of hotels scattered throughout town. There is loads of good coffee and eats around, and a healthy live music scene in the summer. One ride and you'll know that it's worth it!
