SaveCaliente is a small town in very rural Nevada offering basic services. Bring your own spare parts and tubes, but find ways to support the local businesses, even if you just buy a burger from J&J's (classic). The trails offer a little bit of everything from a NICA sanctioned race course, to long backcountry cross country rides. The City has built a small bike park with a few nice dirt jumps, a concrete pump track, and a decent network of jump trails with berms, drops, and steeps. There are a few technical descents throughout all of the networks with more being added soon.
The shoulder seasons are ideal here as winter can be cold and wet and summer hot and dry. Expect it to be 5-10 degrees cooler than Las Vegas or St. George. Free camping is available on the abundant BLM land and at the trailhead in Barnes Canyon, with developed campgrounds at Kershaw-Ryan State Park, Cathedral Gorge State Park, and at Young's RV Park.
