Description:
Rode on 6/19/20. We started hitting snow at 4,600. Everything on the ridge was good. Some small patches of snow, but nothing horrible. The main snow was on the switchback “staircase” section north of Sunrise Peak that drops down to the meadow. We hit steep, off-camber 5-10’ drifts between 4,700-5,200 on that northern aspect. I would wait a couple more weeks. Also...we came up from Dark Meadow Trail and it was covered in tree blow-down. We pushed through, but don’t suggest trying until you have a confirmation that the trail has been cleared.

Trail was running good today - a bit slippery on the initial climb but excellent after the first 2 miles. Free of snow and tons of fun but the ruts feel deeper this year. I'm probably just getting old.

Should be a good (hard) climb after a few more dry days.
