Description:
Trail is clear and well trafficked by hikers up until crossing Snagtooth Creek, which is just before the junction with Quartz Creek Butte Trail #5B. From here the trail becomes increasingly steep and overgrown with many blow-down. Expect slow going and many hike-a-bike sections from Snagtooth Creek until reaching the trail's terminus at Boundary Trail #1 (I averaged less than 3mph on this section of the climb). If you are looking for a fast, rough, and rowdy descent, I highly recommend descending Summit Prairie Trail #2 which is a motorized trail and is currently clear of blow-down and brushed. It's a chill 4mi downhill road ride on FR90 from the bottom of Summit Prairie back to the Quartz Creek trail head.

Do you know the condition of Quartz #5B trail? I'm thinking of descending prairie to that to get more trail time instead of FS Rd.
