Trail Mt. Hardesty
Paired this with Lawler for a fantastic double shuttle day. Quite a bit more engaging with more difficult swoops and boops. As always, plenty of Oakridge Okey Dokes (horrible turns where you could fly off a cliff), but not enough of them to ruin the ride. A flowin' fun time!

Trail Lawler
Spent four days in Oakridge and doing the Lawler / Hardesty double shuttle day was the crown jewel of it all. Everything in Oakridge is really good, but Lawler is great. Of course you still get a decent amount of awful turns that will put you in the negative flow zone (or throw you over a cliff), but way fewer than all the other trails. Everything just comes together with the speed and fun on this one.

Trail Eula Ridge
This is a real black diamond trail. Much more difficult and higher consequences than the other Oakridge trails. Hated the top section, just white knuckle steep and loose with very little control. Losing tons of elevation with no payoff. Loved the lower section, fast and techy and just fully engaged fun with tons of payoff. The best of Oakridge, the worst of Oakridge!

@peterman1234 thanks for the info! It's really unfortunate that Oakridge doesn't, and it would be amazing to see if another trail was added including one. Oakridge is awesome and has a lot of potential!

Is there any trails in Oakridge that have some Squamish style rock roles? I know Oakridge has no shortage of rock slabs.

decided to do this over lawler ridge. pedaling to the top was long but doable due to relatively moderate/consistent grade. downhill starts with several loose sections/chutes; nothing crazy but requires confidence and commitment. would not recommend this trail to beginners due to this section, getting hurt or breaking your bike here would not be fun. climb and switchbacks and not the best, but there is some sweet moderate singletrack below. ends on a few more switchbacks. overall, felt like it ended pretty quickly, probably due to the steepness, but the first and third sections are sweeeet!

This section of Lawler is nicely sculpted with berms, little woops and rollers. Descends just fine.

Awesome trail! Lush green forest on the upper half even in mid-July. Fun straightforward narrow singletrack down. Trail smooths and widens a bit after the road and some of the switchbacks are real tight and loose. My favorite short ride in the area! Plus, cell service exists in the lower lot as well as the upper drop-off by the washout.

RIPPER!!!! They say they could hear the hoots and hollers all the way in Eugene. Invest in your short-term dopamine production and make a point to hit this one if you're in the area. Like most of the stuff around here, even if you shuttle, there's a punchy climb or two involved--get your heart rate up, get down, and get HYPED. Two enormous thumbs up.

Not such a big fan of this one compared to the other gems in the area. Some fun sections but overall big hiking trail vibes - the NorCal boy in me was tickled by the fast, chunkier sections, but it lacks the wide open, no brakes charm that makes Oakridge, Oakridge. Next time I'm hopping in the Cog Wild van, I'm skipping the first stop and heading straight to Lawler.

Reasons TO ride this trail:

-You’re really good at MTBing
-You can corner a unbanked hairpin turn at a 20-30 degree grade
-You can ride a massive loose steep rock garden with no run outs for 20 minutes straight.
-You’re riding with at least one person that has ridden this before or is willing to be cannon fodder for the upcoming carnage

Reasons NOT to ride this
-you’ve ridden for less than 1 season
-you’re alone or with people less skilled than you
-you’re expecting a flow trail
-you walk any rock garden that doesn't have a runout
-you just climbed for 90 minutes up the access road and you are tired as shit

In all seriousness this trail is the Gnarliest single black I’ve ever ridden. This trail could very easily be a solid double with some extra building. The top section is about 20 minutes of switchbacks filled with steep loose rock gardens and gnarly cliff side turns with no berms. In many cases these tight turns are your “runout” so you better have changed your brake pads before this. The upper section is also riddled with 2-3 foot drops straight into ultra techy terrain. The lower section is a nice relief after all the work you’ve just done. It’s super fast, flows well, and even has a 4 foot log drop/step down midway. I’d recommend this to anyone that is getting bored of their run of the mill black diamond and would like to nearly die in the middle of the woods.

Not sure I agree with almost anything said here. If you can ride a black, you can ride this trail, surely not that technical, just steep. No "drops" to speak of. Everything able to be rolled. Use your brakes and keep those heels down and this trail is full of fun. You will surely NOT be nearly dying in the middle of the woods. I think there is some overreaction going on here. Ha. It is a hard trail and you definitely should be aware of that though.

This is the best trail in Oakridge. Several steep chutes towards the top transitioning into faster singletrack that weaves through trees with plenty of roots to bounce off of. There's a few punchy climbs in the middle you'll be tired for, but nothing too bad. The switchback section after the largest climb is definitely a bummer, especially after the super fun chutes at the top, but I'm probably just being a stickler. This trail is sick, would recommend.

So I rode goodman up and ised this to connect to My Hardesty. I'm not sure if anyone has cleared this all the way through on a bike, if you have you must be chuck norris mixed with macho man randy savage. Tough hike, let alone bike hike but very beautiful. My advice is that if within the first 1.5 miles the switchbacks have you thinking "eff this" TURN AROUND because its gets even harder. If you have the sand loop this to hardesty and then ice yoir legs.

I went up this beast. And it got a bunch of tight switchbacks. A lot of roots. Steep in sections. Bland for my liking. But it did get me to the top. Took some time. We are talking about 5+miles up and a 4000elevation climb. It be definitely more fun going down. But even at that it was sorta bland to me. I think I’ve spoiled myself doing alpine and dead mountain.

Down down down you go. Then down some more. At midway I was sorta getting tired of the steep terrain just cause it was just ridding the breaks constant. Cooked my breaks pretty well I’m sure. Although there are a bunch of fun technical switch backs and really going down that
steep stuff was fun. But to much of it got tiring and bland to me. The bottom was fun. More flowy and could actually enjoy the ride with using constant breaks. Some awesome drops mixed throughout. It’s steep for about 1/2 if I forgot to mention.

The first half is an enjoyable climb and bomb down to the hike a bike section. If you enjoy going through half your brake pads and walking around 2 ft radius corners on broken rock then the bottom half of this trail is great for you. Sure it has huge numbers but most of the elevation loss is not on enjoyable terrain.

While the trail is in good shape it has brutal switchbacks that Danny Macaskill would have a hard time cleaning. Super steep and demoralizing. Goes on forever. Will not ever ride up this one again.

Im a fan. Top part has some steep loose sections that are pretty sustained, short break than another section of steep and loose. I like this style of riding right on the edge of chaos. Middle not a fan of all the tight hairpins. The middle to end where it gets away from the side hill and opens up that's fun and brilliant. A few punchy climbs as well. I would say I liked maybe Lawler better as a whole because it was longer but Eula had some of the most fun segements. We shuttled it, gravel road all the way, a washed out road section near top I got up it in my 2wd honda element 3rd time was a charm. Shuttle was about 30 min.

This is the real flagship trail of the area. It is long and has a bit of everything; great dirt, some good techy bits, good turns. It is not overly challenging technically wise, you make it as spicy as you want depending on your speed though. Don't expect it to be a straight shuttle bomb as there are a couple steep climbs in it, but they are well worth it. The new ending makes this trail even better, skipping the road section. You will be beat by the bottom with a huge smile on your face.

I did not know a trail with such good stats (big vertical, sort distance) could be such little fun. This is definitely a hiking trail and it rides like one; just weird flat gravely corners the whole way down. Best we just leave this one for the hikers. It's not that it is a bad trail, there are just so many better options in Oakridge that are much more worth your time.

Rad, steep, loose, rowdy. A bit overrated to be honest, but the most technical trail in Oakridge. The switchbacks near the bottom are a bit of a buzz kill, but other than that it's great. Not beginner or really even intermediate friendly due to the steep looseness.

Near the top of the initial climb you can take a switchback up to the where the old fire lookout was (only a foundation remains). This short detour from the TF route had a bit of technical climbing that I liked. The entire descent was fast with good sight line downtrail. Loved it!

Near the top of the initial climb you can take a switchback up to the where the old fire lookout was (only a foundation remains). This short detour from the TF route had a bit of technical climbing that I liked. The entire descent was fast with good sight line downtrail. Loved it!

Trees have all been cleared. Trail is overgrown in places. Winter erosion has exposed more roots/rocks and washed out the footbridge. Crossing no problem in low water conditions but could be challenging in fall. Overall good summer conditions for the ride up to Eagles Rest.
