This route goes over all the passes & saddles in the McDowell Mtns. including all 3 trails to Tom's Thumb!! These trails are rugged, loose and steep in sections. You WILL Hike-a-bike. This is an all day ride and no water is available on route. Plan accordingly. This route is only recommended during the cooler months, preferably Nov. - Feb.

Hiking Gateway access and currently on windmill. Really nice trail secluded. I do not have a mountain bike but if I did, I think this would be a great trail!

Hiking the trail this morning. Agree with the comment about a lot of hiking if you’re heading east. Almost all uphill. Most mountain bikers are also hiking
