The Cayuse Mountain Trail #235 leaves Avalanche Gulch Road at a FS sign and parallels Cayuse Creek on mostly single track with a moderate grade. It then follows the path of a very old double track road that climbs steeply up the side of Cayuse Mountain to reach a saddle, a 4wd-accessible FS trail head, an outstanding view to the East, and the Bilk Mountain Trail.

An adventurous climbing trail. The beginning is almost overgrown. The trail disappears a couple of times when it passes the house not far from its beginning. Pay close attention to not miss where it turns left off an old ATV track very roughly half a mile after the house. The singletrack after that is mostly a foot wide with vegetation brushing both legs. It's easy enough to follow. You'll need strong legs, lungs and a good sense of adventure.
