From the Chamisa Parking Lot, the trail splits immediately into a lower and a higher portion. Most riders take the higher option as it is an easier to ride option. However, the trail begins climbing very steeply, thankfully on smooth tread. Eventually the trail does mellow out a bit, but you will climb right up until the trail gains the ridge overlooking the Winsor Trail. At the top there is an intersection for Saddleback or continue down the other side on Chamisa. This descent towards the Winsor is very fast and relatively non-technical. Heading back towards the parking lot, this climb is as taxing as the outbound climb but tends to be more technical. Ridden in either direction, Chamisa provides a stiff climb and a swift descent.
