This trail is best ridden from the Parking lot, as it's easy to get lost coming from 3 mile smile the 1st time. This is the most common route which keeps you mostly on singletrack without grinding on double track.

Trail not well marked from the top and got dumped back onto Cottonwood Valley Road, miserable riding with mix of loose gravel and rock

Yeah, I just made the edit showing the trail should be ridden from the lower lot up-to 3mile smile... Either way, the trail does needs some sinage... Gonna reach out to the local guy who's offered to laser-cut some signs for trails

The reward to taking this up from the parking lot is getting to the SW side which is super smooth and fun and then taking 3 mile smile downhill to make a nice loop. I'm not sure why you'd want to take this down hill other than variety since you have the much nicer 3 mile smile trail. Generally I wish this trail was a bit smoother in several sections to make the uphill climb a bit more pleasant.

rode redhawks red canyon.i assended this from the big parking lot. baseball sized gravel, mostly barely used double track fire roads with no decent lines. Boring and annoying climb until you get to satans butthole or whatever it's called. Then it wasn't marked well so i spent some time fudging with my garmin until i found the singletrack down to the outlook. at top of satans Ignore the two jeep roads to your left. Head up the little hill to right and down then make like you are going to climb the jeep road and the singletrack is tucked on the left side 100" or so. we should build a cairn or something. THEN it was nice. Nice trail and super fun DH to the parking lot.
