The Devils' Basin (aka North Fork Big Creek Trail) #4075 is a steep descent in the remote backcountry that is not recommended for uphill travel by bike (trust me, it would be miserable). It traverses through some very serious rock gardens for the top mile of the trail that should be attempted by fully padded nutso's only. The lower part of the trail has several rock gardens and technical creek crossings as well. The trail does not get a lot of use and can be hard to follow in some locations.

It can be used as a good connector from Big Eightmile area to Park Fork / Lake Fork Trail, but beware it's a serious endeavor and needs a strong mental game. Check the current status of the trail as deadfall could make the lower sections a painfully slow experience. The Idaho Trail Rangers moto crew sometimes clears this trail, so check their reports.

Access Info

Start of the trail (top) is a vague intersection with Patterson Trail (#6185) at the saddle.
