One can make the argument that you haven't experienced the black diamond status of Loop D when skipping Inner Loop D. It's a solid argument. Where Loop D takes pity on you and gives you moments of respite between the rock outcroppings, Inner Loop D does not. Inner Loop D ensures the rock outcroppings are uphill with roots and a minimum of two tight, janky turns--the modus operandi for its .46-of-a-mile length. Is brevity a form of pity? Impossible to know until you ride it two or three times. Maybe five. So, what are you waiting for?
If you are hiking (a bike), enjoy! Moss, lichens, fungi, mushrooms, and possibly a scolopendra heros. A bit of elevation gain/loss and the rocky outcroppings make this section particularly interesting and beautiful.

Tulkas
Inner Loop D--this option is a "black diamond" according to the State Park signage at the begining of the loop, and rightfully so. For those not convinced, you can always give it a spin and judge for yourself. Tight, twisty turns, short, punchy climbs, rock gardens, and, if you're lucky, a Texas redheaded centipede. Challenging and fun, but not for everyone.
