A windy, old school single track in upper Alta. This trail was built primarily by Alta police officer Kevin Payne in the Summer's of 99 and 00. It used to continue through Memorial Grove all the way to the Albion base, but this is all that remains of it now.

Access this trail via the Devil's Castle single track, the turn off is easy to miss, hiding behind a big tree on rider's right when descending Devil's Castle.

This trail has technical turns and rock gardens, some are during short, punchy climbs of over 20% grade. When you get to the mine tailings, take a left and ride the spine of them to continue on the trail, it flows faster from here to the end. If you head down from the tailings pile instead, it brings you to "Little Moab".

I thought this was a fun way to add length to the Devil’s Castle ride. I don’t think this is even remotely black though. Devil’s Castle has more technical spots than just about anything I experienced on this trail. If you want a flowy trail to add to Devil’s Castle, you probably want to skip this one. The wayfinding can be a bit confusing at spots as well. There are some short punchy climbs for those who enjoy that.

This is a really fun trail, I wasn't expecting a whole lot but I feel like this is undervalued. I'm sure there are Forest service reasons why this area doesn't have more mountain bike trails but it totally should, there's good dirt, granite, great views and access.

If you don't know the trail, it's quite difficult to stay on course. It splits off in lots of places so I had to constantly keep checking TF. Other than that it's pretty fun.

We hope you've been enjoying Trailforks!
