The lower half of the full Maple Mountain descent of Maple Syrup is a stunning trail with beautiful rocky bluffs and beautiful creek crossings. This portion of the trail requires some strong pedalling still for those that have just come from Upper Maple. Using the Story Trail Connector is a great way to enjoy this trail if you aren't looking to pedal all the way to the summit.

If Upper Maple was a little more than you bargained for, get out while you can and head down the Story connector to Phloem. This one can take a while. The hard parts are loose and chunky chutes compared to the rock rolls of Upper. About the same difficulty, just different flavor. The climbs are nothing too wild, but it adds up.

I would agree with the previous comment. I found it a touch more difficult than upper with the chunky tech and more climbing. If you don’t enjoy climbing, you won’t be happy on this trail. But that doesn’t mean it warrants bad reviews! It’s still a great trail with a lot of spots that can get you into trouble. Worth checking out in my opinion!

Fun trail for sure! Found a touch harder than Upper Maple Syrup as some of the chutes were rocky and footy and required focus (but fun!) versus Upper with steeper but less chunky rock sections. And yes, there is some climbing which seems challenging by the time you get to it. Excellent trail!
