Ninebark Trail travels through diverse woodlands rich with native wildflowers and old growth white oaks punctuating the landscape. Along the trail, remnants of a former pine plantation can be found and towering shortleaf pine trees still whisper in the gentle winds. At the crest of the trail is a large dolomite glade, a natural community based on shallow bedrock soil and uncommon plants and animals that thrive in the dry landscape. Here, hikers will find ninebark, a flowering shrub that grows on dolomite glades throughout the region. The pale pinkish white flowers attract a suite of pollinating insects each spring. White connector 1 can be used to access Jones Hollow Trail.
