Located immediately north of Narrogins cycle hub, this is Leg 2 of the 'Kooloot Biddi' Perth to Narrogin MTB Route. Located within Shire of Cuballing Yornaning Dam parklands.

The ‘MTB Trail Yornaning Dam north block’, Trailhead (map) is located within carpark, off Yornaning Road, Yornaning WA. It is in a remote inland area 12 km north of Cuballing township, or 200km southwest to Perth Western Australia, featuring bush tracks typical of the Australian outback. These trails will not be maintained after June 2023 by us the Volunteer trail builders, WCC after handing maintenance responsibility to the local council. Riders should expect to encounter debris and obstacles on the trail, including rocks, sticks, branches, and loose gravel, and are encouraged to ride with caution and within their skill level.
The trail's varied terrain and beautiful scenery make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore hidden secrets of our Australian outback on bicycle, particularly those who are new to mountain biking or looking for a more relaxed ride.
Riders can expect to encounter remnants of early settler huts and landscapes settlers experienced while living here as they navigate the trails. The MTB trail north block is 4km scenic ride offering a mix of slow technical challenges and open sections making it suitable for both beginner and intermediate riders.
It's important to note that there are no medical facilities in the immediate vicinity of the trail, and visitors should take precautions and be aware of the potential risks associated with mountain biking in a remote area. Carrying a first aid kit, tool kit, mobile, letting someone know of the planned route and estimated return time, staying hydrated, and carrying adequate food and water supply are all essential safety measures to consider. Additional accessories include large size insect head net plus insect repellent for we recommend walking the bush walkway around the dam.
In addition to safety precautions, Visitors are asked to join the effort to maintain local mountain bike trails. Becoming a volunteer and helping clear debris from bush tracks is an excellent way to contribute and keep the trails open. Interested individuals can contact their local council, such as the Shire of Cuballing WA for Yornaning Dam MTB Trails, to learn more about how they can make a difference.
The trail design is best understood when riders perform the initial circuit, followed by a second circuit. Then ride the Yornaning Dam South Block, it's start is setback a few metres down from the Yornaning Dam driveway main entrance. There is a separate narrative prepared, search under, 'MTB Trail Yornaning Dam south block - Yornaning WA'.
For those who seek gravel roads, explore the internal service roads here, return to car park using Yornaning Road a 7 km circuit. Then as you return stop for a picnic using the Shire of Cuballings well-equipped children’s playground, picnic and toilet facilities all located within a large flat car park area. Which also serves as a permitted short-stay over-night caravan parking area.
Try the Cuballing Tavern a few kilometres south of here for lunch or dinner then hit Shire of Narrogin’s bicycle network. Comprising Railway Dam MTB Trail, 8 km circuit style suitable for the more experienced fit rider then hit the adjacent Foxes Lair reserve with it's white to green shared bicycle tracks.
Afterwards stay the night at Shire Narrogin’s caravan park before venturing away. Note the well-equipped Caravan Park chalets are regularly booked out well in advance, so book early.
Trails on the Kooloot Biddi Route include,
1. Railway Dam MTB Trail 10.5km - Novice Loop, 1K Loop, Griffo Circuit, Havoc Loop, Narrogin. Trailhead, located within Railway Dam carpark, Mokine Road, Narrogin and is your short-stay caravan site.
2. Foxes Lair Reserve, 10km white/green rated tracks.
3. Gravel riders Dryandra Woodlands National Park internal fire roads..
4. Return to Perth, Munda Biddi Trail - Brookton to Albany Highway section.
