The first 5 miles of the trail are strenuous—climbing about 1,500 feet—whereas the remainder of the trail is a moderate degree of difficulty. You will enjoy a wide range of views as the trail travels through piñon-juniper, ponderosa pine, spruce/fir, aspen, and high elevation meadows. This trail is an excellent opportunity to view your favorite wildlife.

The Overland trail extends another 6 miles south towards crescent lake beyond what is shown here. That section of trail sees such little use that it is no longer suitable to ride.
