Penstemon Path is a trail established in 2023. This trail is the results of the local land owner, Palouse Land Trust, and MAMBA. The landowner is the driving factor on this trail as she is adamant that the public has access to her property via this singletrack trail. Please make sure to be respectful of nature, the landowner and her neighbors, the management organizations, and the variety of users.
The trail starts in Idler's Rest Nature Preserve (dawn to dusk access). It will meander through the meadow beyond until it reaches the forest again. From here there will be a choice to loop it either way. On the west end of the loop there is a wonderful view of the Palouse. Look for added benches, tables, and informative locations as the trail POI is refined.
PLEASE CONSIDER MOUNTAIN BIKING THE LOOP CLOCKWISE DUE TO THE POPULARITY OF THE VIEW POINT WITH HIKERS AND WALKERS.
The trail is a blue trail in the IMBA guidelines, but has many green sections. It is always easy to follow. a few times it crosses or gets near access and secondary roads. Please stay on the singletrack for the benefit of the neighbors and continued access.

Access Info

Parking access at Idler's Rest Nature Preserve. This is a smaller lot with some of the only Universal Access (read ADA) into our beautiful forests. Please leave parking for IRNP users as best as possible. Bikers and runners are encouraged to ride and run from town. Great loop opportunities exist connecting from this trailhead to other trailheads..
