Note that this road is gated just past the McClelland Butte trail crossing. After that point, the road is in differing stages of decommissioning. The Hansen ridge trail can be accessed from the Iron Horse trail using this connection, however it is a difficult climb. Conversely, some have used this to turn Hansen Ridge into a shuttle, which adds a lengthy drive and significant loss of elevation on a double track.
