Global Ranking
Slant’n’dicular is the climb to access Jumbo Ridge and all of the upper trails. It is also one of the best descents in the network but be careful descending it on weekends when you are likely to encounter other riders, hikers or horses coming up the hill. You access Slant from the trailhead by riding either Gully or Sweet Shady North to the Powerline Road and then climbing the road up to the Tower of Power (high tension powerline tower) to the left. Just before the tower, the Powerline Road turns almost 180º and heads up the ridge (follow singletrack to the north, not ATV track on ridge or the 90º right onto the double track) to the northeast. As the Powerline breaks to the left, the start of Slant is straight ahead. From here you will climb a little more than 700’ in 1.6 miles and end up at the Grassy Knoll. Enjoy the view from here and savor the excitement of the decent to follow. If you continue up the hill you will top out at the Hammock and can then descend Jumbo Ridge or Rock n’ Roll. If you chose to head back down from here you can head back down the way you came, or take the Ridge of Doom, or ride the top of Ridge of Doom and then drop off into The Plunge.
