Spaulding Greenway is set between farm fields and a riparian restoration area on a newly conserved 70-acre meadow along the Mad River. The trail surface is mowed grass and is generally wide, though it may be soft or uneven depending on weather. The grade is mostly flat throughout, with minimal elevation change.
This section travels through open floodplain farmland with nice views of the Mad River and surrounding valley. There is parking at the East Trailhead. From the West Trailhead, users can loop back to the start by walking approximately 0.4 miles along Trembley Road. This trail is protected by a conservation easement held by partners at the Vermont Land Trust.
