Trails in Sedona are managed by the National Forest Service's Red Rock Ranger District (RRRD). VVCC is a major contributor to the RRRD in both dollars and volunteer hours.
RRRD's published goal for multi-use trails is to "reduce speeds of bikes by implementing embedded rock, narrow tread and less clearing of adjacent brush".
In many areas the embedded "rock work" that they installed just a couple years ago
is already failing and in need of major repair, proving that it's not sustainable.
Also, if you're not an active volunteer you'll have a hard time finding their new trails as they prescribe to a "no dig/no ride" mantra, neglecting to populate the Trailforks map.
The good that the VVCC/RRRD does creating new trails is far outweighed by the way that they build, maintain and publish them.
