Hyena is a newer alternate line off the west face of Napoleon’s Tomb that offers a slightly mellower option than Lion King while still keeping things fun and engaging.
Hyena starts from the Napoleon Saddle near the bench and is best ridden south to north. The trail descends on a mix of slickrock and moderate rock features with a few short punchy moves and choose your line moments, but it is overall a bit less technical than Lion King. Hyena reconnects back onto Lion King, letting you finish out and still enjoy the lower portion of that descent.
A highlight of Hyena is the craftsmanship. There is some amazing rock work throughout thanks to the Red Rock Trail Crew, along with numerous volunteer trail days that helped bring the corridor to life. Hyena is another fruit of the Red Rock Trails and Access Plan Phase 2.

      Not black. Baldwin which is blue is far more technical. Lion King eats its lunch.
