Fellowship of the Wheel (FOTWheel) is a non-profit that advocates for and maintains 120 miles (8 networks in 7 towns) of public multi-use trails in Chittenden County, Vermont. We work with private and municipal landowners to create responsibly-built, sustainable recreational trails for the greater community to enjoy. FOTWheel completes over 3,500 hours of trail work each season, through the direction of the Trail Crew, with over 1,000 hours of volunteer commitment. Funding sources are primarily derived from membership dues and supported by financial donations by local businesses, partnerships with like-minded organizations, grants, merchandise sales and events.
The Fellowship aims to advocate for outdoor recreation opportunities, build and maintain trails with the most sustainable practices, and educate the community about the natural world and trail design. Our local trails pass beautiful scenery and historic sites, they link towns, and bring volunteers together while assisting with the creation and maintenance of responsibly-built public trails. It is our hope that this will inspire people to care about their environment in such a way that they make conscious decisions to protect it.
The Fellowship of the Wheel Trail Crew was named Vermont Trail Builder of the Year in 2013!
