May 5, 2026 @ 7:43am (America/Denver) May 5, 2026 | Is mostly cleared with the exception of a couple larger tress but you can get around them | Ideal | view
Apr 19, 2026 @ 9:29pm (America/Denver) Apr 19, 2026 | Pretty muddy starting about 3 miles up from Pipestone Pass. Trees cleared to Limekiln Road junction but not any further, looked snowy and muddy south of here. | Prevalent Mud | view
Apr 19, 2026 @ 7:48pm (America/Denver) Apr 19, 2026 | Trees cleared for 3.3 miles south of Pipestone Pass, a few switchbacks past Beaver Ponds junction. Be careful there are several poorly cut logs sticking into the trail. | Variable | view
Apr 19, 2026 @ 5:51pm (America/Denver) Apr 19, 2026 | Pretty muddy starting a couple miles up from Pipestone Pass, not recommended for a couple more days. | Prevalent Mud | view

Mar 23, 2026 @ 4:49pm (America/Denver) Mar 23, 2026 | someone has recently cleared a bunch of trees on the first climb (~2 miles). there's about 5 down now. after that there's a bunch and I didn't progress further. Some patches of snow and mud but shockingly dry | Variable | view
Nov 22, 2025 @ 7:43pm (America/Denver) Nov 22, 2025 | On the southern half right up to the high point it’s a little snowy in spots, soft moist dirt otherwise | Ideal | view
Nov 22, 2025 @ 7:41pm (America/Denver) Nov 22, 2025 | There’s a half inch of snow on the lower 3 miles of trail, totally rideable. Didn’t ride the upper/southern 7 miles. | Variable | view
Oct 23, 2025 @ 4:55pm (America/Denver) Oct 23, 2025 | just 3 trees down on the trail. | Variable | view
Oct 17, 2025 @ 3:35pm (America/Denver) Oct 17, 2025 | There are 2 trees down across the trail, one far north near the summit, and the other close to the Homestake Trailhead. Both trees could be removed with a handsaw. There are also a bunch or "leaners" that you can ride under, but will eventually need a chainsaw to remove. Most of the trail has patchy snow, but it was melting quickly on aspects that receive sun. On the switchbacks north of the summit there was 3-4" of snow, but I was able to ride up with a standard MTB on all but the steepest grades. It appears that someone has been doing some volunteer trail maintenance on the southern half, some of it is OK, but some of it is just downright hazardous to bicycles, so be careful. Also, this trail has plenty of juice, you just have to squeeze it right | Variable | view
Aug 24, 2025 @ 2:18pm Aug 24, 2025 | Large tree across the trail about 3.0mi. from the Homestake North trailhead. Very dry, and all the decomposed granite granules are very slippy, particularly in the switchbacks. A bigger "squeeze" than the trail segment south of the Interstate, and not a proportionally larger amount of "juice". | Very Dry | view
Aug 19, 2025 @ 1:44pm Aug 19, 2025 | Rode over & back from the Homestake side. Parts are still damp from the rain, and parts are dry and slippy. There are two trees across the trail ( one large and not rideable, one small and rideable) and a number of widowmakers between 4.2 and 4.4 mi from the homestake side. (GPS points N45- 53.351,W112-24.395 and N45-53.270,W112-24.385) | Variable | view
Aug 11, 2025 @ 5:47pm Aug 11, 2025 | Very Dry | view
Aug 4, 2025 @ 6:36am Aug 4, 2025 | Trail is clear and in great shape. Not ing here that someone has bolted a spurious “unauthorized trail” sign about a 1/4 mile from the east (Hwy 2) end of the trail. Looks like a 1/2” socket wrench would be needed to remove this sign. | Dry | view
Aug 2, 2025 @ 7:21am Aug 2, 2025 | Ideal | view
Aug 1, 2025 @ 11:50am Aug 1, 2025 | Dry | view
Jul 11, 2025 @ 9:40pm Jul 11, 2025 | 1 large tree down. I moved about 17 large logs and a bunch rocks someone had placed all over the trail climbing up out from Roosevelt drive on the first few switchbacks. the large tree is about 1.5? miles in from that side. | Ideal | view
Jun 24, 2025 @ 9:51pm Jun 24, 2025 | Great shape. Cleared the few most dangerous overhanging trees. | Ideal | view
Jun 24, 2025 @ 11:27am Jun 24, 2025 | Great shape. Cleared the few most dangerous overhanging trees. A few spots getting tight from saplings, but not too big of a deal yet. | Ideal | view
Jun 15, 2025 @ 11:45am Jun 15, 2025 | Entire trail is clear. But as the last report noted - this trail is quite trashy at the moment. A lot of sapplings and debris. Could use some clearing for line of sight and handle bar grabbers. reporter | Dry | view
Jun 15, 2025 @ 6:06am Jun 15, 2025 | People have been riding this trail right through to/from Highlands Trailhead. There are perhaps 2-3 trees down, and there is a lot of rocks and debris on the Highlands end from the heavy storms that we have been getting lately. reporter | Ideal | view |
