An unsanctioned old school all mountain trail with minimal flow and lots of technical challenges and a few superb viewpoints. Best ridden with a new-school AM bike. Some excellent open ridge portions with sparse vegetation and lots of fun on the rocks. Riding it south to north will put you in the extreme north end of Mt Work park and far from everything else. This trail is beyond the Hartland Bike Park boundary. It is unsanctioned. It is not maintained by the local bike society, the South Island Mountain Bike Society (SIMBS).

Access Info

Access from the south via North Ridge and Breathless with a short 50m walk/ride traverse of the Mt. Work hiking trail until the left (north) turn towards Bubble Wrap proper. Exit at the north end also involves riding/walking a short section of the Mt. Work trail. Look out for hikers and be nice.

This trail is unsanctioned.

This trail is an excellent challenge: it will make you swear, it will make you smile, you'll curse it, then you'll rise with pride after clearing a technical section, if you are bad a teck climbs like me you'll walk quite a bit, you might even crash, but you'll have fun. The thing with technical XC climbs is that if you are not in a mood for it, they just drive you mad. This trail is very well built and take you to a gorgeous ( and difficult) ride in the forest. Thank you so much to the builder!!

The description is so true. I personally found this trail not enjoyable because of minimal flow, too many uphills, and very awkward lines filled with pedal strikes

Trail is in great shape. Drains well, so there is no standing water currently. Dirt was loamy today! Super fun trail. Lots of technical aspects, both going up and coming down. Definitely has a different character to it in the wet than it does in the dry. Like most of Hartland, it some uphills and what feels like few downhills. Still fun but don’t expect any epic downhills.

We hope you've been enjoying Trailforks!
